about

The 3-track EP is FREE! Or pay what you want, if you feel so inclined.

Recorded in Somerville the day before I left town for the golden coast, the album features the same intimacy of my first album, Five Feet Small, without the use of iPhone recording. What a blessing!

You may be sensing a theme here, and you'd be right to do so. The first track is a cover of one of Dylan's more gypsy style tunes, "One More Cup Of Coffee." The second track, "Groundhog Day (The Lovers)," was written entirely in a quieted and still Cape Cod afternoon last Thanksgiving. I wrote the final track, "Gray Skies, Cold Coffee," in the bitter throws of this past New England winter, while my beautiful roommate chuckled in the corner of our unheated living room.

Happy Listening. <3

Track Name: One More Cup Of Coffee
your breath is sweet
your eyes are like two jewels in the sky
your back is straight, hair so smooth on the pillow where you lie
but I don't sense affection
no gratitude or love
your loyalty is not to me,
but to the sky and stars above

one more cup of coffee for the road
one more cup of coffee 'fore I go
to the valley below

your daddy, he's an outlaw
and a wanderer by trade
he'll teach you how to pick and choose
and how to throw the blade
he oversees his kingdom
so no stranger does intrude
but his voice, it trembles,
as he calls out for another plate of food

one more cup of coffee for the road
one more cup of coffee 'fore I go
to the valley below

your sister sees the future
like your mama and yourself
never learned to read or write
there's no books upon your shelves
your pleasure knows no limits,
and your voice is like a meadowlark,
but your heart is like an ocean-
mysterious and dark

one more cup of coffee for the road
one more cup of coffee 'fore I go
to the valley below
Track Name: Groundhog Day (The Lovers)
in the morning, she asks him his name
and he couldn't believe, what she done became
but he do believe, tomorrow'll be the same

in the middle of the day
the sun sat on high, and she drifted away
he asked himself how, how could it be okay

la dee da.........

in the afternoon, he prayed, and
when she called his name, his tears fell all the same
couldn't bear to leave, couldn't bear to stay

in the evening, she slipped away
just as fast as she came, and he warn't surprised
he always knew, she'd leave him each day

la dee da..............

as he awoke, just before the sun tore through the
old lovers' yellow screen door
heavy, still,
rowdy as a stone

he rolled over, but something was wrong
she asked him no questions and made not a sound
was almost as though she were gone

la dee da................

in the morning, he asks her his name
oh my sweet Bill, am I to blame?
with quivering lips, and lines across her face

oh my dear Dee, I'd ask you to stay,
and I know it ain't kind for me to leave you this a'way,
but I've fallen ill,
'n my time's hard to say

la dee da.................

as the sun poured in the through the holes in the walls
our Billy knows that his love's moved along
daren't stir the sheets
daren't wake her now

in the morning, she asks him his name
there's fear in her eyes, and
he's scramblin' to explain
everyday
every day the same
Track Name: Gray Skies, Cold Coffee
gray skies, I won't miss you when you're gone
captive to another color, I'll be movin' on
gray skies, what worries have you known?
by no fault of Boston, we won't remember once you're gone

oh
my coffee has gone cold
saving all my dollars for that long and lonesome road
oh, my coffee's cold,
and I cannot feel my toes
can't afford another month of heat
I'll sit by the stove

twilight, how pretty you've become
I wouldn't trade your pink display for any length of sun
brown night, oh this drowsy state of mind
blurring all the colors and the thoughts
this bourbon sky

oh
my coffee has gone cold
saving all my dollars for that long and lonesome road
oh, my coffee's cold,
and I cannot feel my toes
can't afford another month of heat
Ill sit by the stove

oh, my coffee's cold,
and I'm missing all them long summer roads
can't afford another month of heat,
I'll sit by the stove

oh, my coffee's cold,
and I'm running out of them good warm clothes
saving all my dollars, oh I'm saving, saving for my

oh, my coffee's cold,
and I cannot feel no fingers nor toes
can't afford another month of heat,
I'll sit by the stove
and I fear these bones been soaking in this gray for far too long
